Duties: The Recreation Manager oversees the Madison Jobe Senior Center, Heritage Park Museum, and assigned special events, supervising full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of senior programs across the city, ensuring alignment with the Parks and Recreation Department's strategic goals. Duties include budget management, grant administration, staffing, program planning, and performance evaluation. This position contributes to the department's master services plan by conducting community needs assessments, analyzing participation data, and recommending program priorities Lead recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of senior center and museum staff. Train, supervise, and evaluate full-time, part-time, and volunteer personnel. Plan, organize, implement, and assess programs for seniors and special events for Senior Services Division. Identify and secure program instructors; assist in the development of course schedules, marketing materials, and fee structures. Manage program budgets; track expenses, approve purchases, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. Collect and analyze program data; track participation, feedback, and outcomes to improve service delivery. Foster community partnerships and represent the department in senior service collaborations. Research, prepare, and administer program-related grants. Maintain inventory and oversee procurement of supplies and equipment. Ensure facility and equipment maintenance for the senior center and museum. Oversee the planning and implementation of department special events assigned to the Senior Services Division. Conduct regular staff meetings and participate in Parks and Recreation leadership sessions. Assists in the preparation and administers of various program grants. Must be able to work Monday-Friday and when necessary, Saturdays, holidays and evenings. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (B.A or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Parks and Recreation, Sociology or related field. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in senior services or recreation program management or related areas; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or training. Valid Texas Driver's License and a good driving record. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Must complete Food Manager Certification within 6 months of hire. Must complete First Aid/CPR/AED within one year. PREFERRED: Bilingual (Spanish/English). Experience with recreation management software. Previous municipal government experience.
