Duties: Manages print and electronic production of general city communications through newsletters, brochures, press releases, speeches and other print media as well as through the city website, social media, broadcast email, SMS texting, video and municipal channel. Communication is routinely general information to enhance public awareness of city programs and services, but may include emergency communications during crisis events. Updating all social media platforms with information and videos provided by city departments. Serve as PIO for city with Office of Emergency Management as needed. Collaborate with assigned staff administering social media platforms from various departments including, Pasadena Animal Shelter, Parks & Recreation, Madison Jobe Senior Center, Neighborhood Network, Pasadena Library, Verne Cox Adaptive Recreation, Fire Services, Office of Emergency Management, and Police Department. Collaborate with Creative Services Specialist to produce various print publication productions and posters. Write and produce speeches and public comments for the Mayor. Write scripts and produce video public service announcements for the Pasadena Channel. Work with video producers to create internal messaging videos such as State of the City presentations. On-Camera host for various Pasadena Channel projects and Facebook Live posts. Curate and determine weekly information included in water bill cycles. Compose advertising the City uses for public image. Monitor local news sources to understand news trends. Handle all media requests for breaking news and public relations stories. Act as City representative and spokesperson for various television and radio needs. Assist in the coordination of special city events such as ground-breakings, ribbon-cuttings, etc. Assist with appropriate content to upload to Alert Page during emergencies. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.Works the assigned schedule and complies with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Two to four years related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED: Masters degree and/or additional Public Information Officer training.

- From 21 to less than 26 years of service - five weeks of vacation per year.
- From 26 years of service and up - six weeks of vacation per year.
