Duties: The Recreation Attendant I supports the planning, coordination, and supervision of recreational programs, daily activities, and special events at the Madison Jobe Senior Center and the Heritage Museum. This role also takes the lead in organizing and executing smaller departmental events. While this position does not include direct supervision of staff, it requires strong initiative, creativity, and a service-oriented attitude to ensure a welcoming and engaging environment for seniors. Greet all visitors and participants warmly and professionally. Provide general hospitality and support services to staff and guests. Assist with planning and facilitating programs for seniors, including games, indoor/outdoor recreation, field trips, and arts and crafts. Prepare refreshments and serve meals for daily activities and events. Design and set up decorations for programs, special events, and seasonal activities. Set up and clean activity areas, ensuring they are safe, organized, and ready for use. Operate City vehicles to transport participants to and from off-site events and field trips. Coordinate and accompany seniors on outings, including trips utilizing East Harris County transportation, as assigned. Collaborate with staff to plan and implement events at both the Senior Center and Heritage Museum. Assist with program registrations and make follow-up calls to confirm participation. Be familiar with the mission and goals of the Parks and Recreation Department. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High School diploma or have obtained a GED equivalence. Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record. Must be able to drive city vehicles within three months of hire. Food Manager Certification within 6 months of hire. CPR/ First Aid within one year of hire. PREFERRED: Prior experience working directly with seniors is desirable. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
